Performance Prediction in EDM Process for Al 6061 Alloy Using Response Surface Methodology and Genetic Algorithm

The Electric Discharge (EDM) method is a novel thermoelectric manufacturing technique in which materials are removed by controlled spark erosion process between two electrodes immersed dielectric medium. Because of the difficulties EDM, determining optimum cutting parameters to improve performance extremely tough. As result, optimizing operating critical processing step, particularly for non-traditional machining like EDM. Adequate selection EDM does not provide ideal conditions, due unpredictable time required given function. Models Multiple Regression and Genetic Algorithm considered as effective methods optimal variables Electrical Machining. material removal rate (MRR) tool wear (Tw) were investigated using pulse on (Ton), off (Toff), current intensity (Ip). established empirical models used perform (GA) maximize minimize (Tw). optimization results utilized establish validate models, obtain outcomes. result that appears this work was (176.261 μs), (39.42 (23.62 Amp.) MRR (0.78391 g/min) reduce (0.0451 g/min).
